If you have dripping tap you can carry out some steps to investigate. You could look inside the tap, even if you suspect it’s a washer and you don’t have a spare, if the washer is only slightly damaged on one face, you can re-fit it the opposite way around. This will be a quick fix but wont last too long. Remember to replace it with a new washer as soon as possible. Normal mixer taps can be fixed, but monobloc taps often have ceramic discs rather than washers. The discs are hard wearing, but to fix a problem you will need a replacement cartridge. Leyton Plumbers are trained in all plumbing work.

To fix a leaky tap:

Isolate the water supply and open all the taps to drain water from the system. Unscrew the top plate, you might be able to do this by hand, if not, then use pliers or an adjustable spanner. You will have to work out how the handles come off. On most you need to unscrew the retaining screw, and pull off the handle, this will expose the headgear nut. A Leyton Plumber is trained to replace all defective items. Unscrew the tap body cover. Try by hand, if not use an adjustable spanner or pipe wrench, protecting the chrome finish with a cloth. Unscrew the headgear nut with an adjustable spanner. If stiff, do not force it, instead, pad the base of the tap with some cardboard and use a pipe wrench to grip it firmly so you can apply the necessary force. Unscrew the headgear assembly. The washer sits in the jumper. Prize out the old washer. Insert the new washer and push it into the jumper. Re-fit in reverse order, apply some silicon grease to the threads on the base of the headgear before reinserting it in the tap body.
